TEACHING PRACTICE -Phase I
As part of BEd. Curriculum, Teaching practise is conducted in both semester 3 and 4. This is included in the curriculum to mould students teachers with necessary skills to become a professional. This is a stepping stone for student teachers to get necessary insights and hand on experience with the art of teaching. This session help the student teacher to gain an understanding of the working of schools, direct experience with students and also get guidance from teaching professionals.
Phase 1 of Teaching Practice began on 21st August 2024, I was assigned to BNVV & HSS Thiruvallam. I along with 9 other students having Saranya of Social Science optional as the leader of the group went to school on 1st to give letter from our principal to the HM of the school and also got the portions assigned to us from respective teachers. I got 8D class and the respective teacher was Mr. Shabari sir.
We reached the school on 21st august at 9:00 am and met the HM for instructions and signed the register Infront of her and went to the classroom assigned to us. We set our timetable by including all the member's timetable. We divided discipline duties among us and went to our classes.
First week of teaching practise helped us to get a deeper understanding of workings of school. We also got a direct experience of classroom management, taking lessons and discipline duties. I found it very difficult to manage the classroom as well as to control the students. Taking the class according to lesson plan was difficult because of the time management. Due to DEO visit we did not enough periods to take classes. As the days passed I managed to create better understanding with students. Students also started to comply with my instructions and also interacted with us to participate in classroom activities. This made me believe that I could do better in the coming days and I am looking forward to it.
